The Hidden Intelligence You Need To Know

Intuition creeps quietly into the heart that is open, the mind that is still, and the body that is present

This is not a conspiracy story. This is a story of the magical workings of your body’s intelligence systems.  When we learn about the natural design and function of the body and work with it and not against it, miracles happen in our life and health and recovery can be achieved.

This month in my clinic there has been a theme of exhaustion, confusion and disconnection.  It is no wonder, when we look at our modern day environment. The 2 major components to the malaise that I see in so many people is 1. A culture that has taught us to listen to outside authority, over and above what our wise and intuitive self would have has know and do.  Compounding this is point number 2. A bombardment of outside information that professes to have all the answers; the science, the news, the social media, the teachers, the doctors, the parents, peers and colleagues.  The busy-ness of life and the constant demand on our attention gets in the way of sitting with self and listening to the inner knowing.  I have heard our modern day culture termed an attention economy and I think this accurately describes what is happening with our ability to focus ourselves on the things that truly matter to us, and the things that truly serve us.  These simple and foundational needs are often in conflict with all these other entities that draw our attention.  This is why I like to work with the 3 intelligence systems in my kinesiology practice. I am passionate about supporting people to utilise these intelligences for recovering health and a joyful life.

The 3 intelligence systems in the body include the gut brain, heart brain and cortical brain. They all have an important role in guiding you to choose what you need to feel better.  If we you were to be honouring your natural design and function, it would start with listening to the heart brain. It receives the soul’s knowing and is attuned to the grand plan. It knows what supports and what hinders.

The heart brain then talks to the gut brain, which gives a sense of yes or no. It let’s you know if you have the guts (the resources) to take action and it knows when to enforce boundaries.  Right here lies the answer to why so many people are exhausted. Poor boundaries and poor gut health means that you will leak energy into activities or behaviours when you don’t have capacity for it or when it is a disservice to you.

The cortical brain is then required to put in place all the steps needed to achieve the big picture for your right feel and for your way forward. The shadow side of it is that it will want to judge, criticise or make a story about how things were in the past and project these fears and worries into the future.  This can cause you to disconnect from the present moment and the truth of a situation. It can cause analysis paralysis, confusion and exhaustion, especially if you are not referring back to the heart brain, which is able to power up the body and give that sense of being pulled by the inspiration of insight. The cortical brain may also interfere by trying to make sense of something. The path of the heart does not always make sense, and quite often the big picture and meaning in the heart’s calling does not become clear until well down the track. This is where the saying ‘hindsight is 20/20 vision’ comes in.

A simple place to start to recover your health and wellbeing is to build connection and trust in your heart, and continue to refer back to this inner knowing and intuition.

There was a time in my life when I was deeply fatigued and overwhelmed. I was trying so many different health practices to recover. Some of them worked, some didn’t, some didn’t feel sustainable, and some of them lead to big life changes. This is part of the journey of illness. It is a process of self discovery and ‘recovering of self’. By this I mean recovering of all the parts of you that need to be seen or heard and in particular it is a process of reclaiming the 3 intelligence systems that give you your power to attune to your unique needs and way forward.

One thing that was a major turn around for me was to reduce the amount of time I spent in work and task-orientated, mental activities. I scheduled into my day activities that allowed me to listen to my heart and to soak in the peace of being present to the moment. Some of these activities include a morning gratitude practice, a yoga and meditation practice and taking breaks in the sunshine in my garden. I reduced my working days and increased heart-centred moments of connection with myself, with my husband, with my food and with my friends and family. These simple foundational connections and relationships have not only brought more energy, but also more joy into my life.

A regulated nervous system is the foundation for health and restoration. Building heart coherence supports a regulated nervous system and this can be achieved by engaging in all of the activities just mentioned.  Attuning to your body’s wisdom requires dropping mental resistance, letting go of the inner critic, the harsh judgments, and the constant need to "figure it all out." When faced with a process of recovery, shift your focus downward. Move out of the noisy chatter of the mind and drop into the steady, quiet intelligence of the heart and gut to know whether it is a true yes or no for you.

Listen to what feels right, not just what sounds logical.

The Takeaway

At the end of the day, you are the ultimate authority on your own life. The noise outside will always be loud, but your inner knowing is always present, waiting patiently beneath the surface.

Slow down. Take a deep breath. Trust what your body and heart is telling you.

To learn more about your 3 intelligence systems I have created an Intuitive Mastery Course. You can access it on my Soulful Supports subscription site. It is tied together with the 3 intelligences meditation. I developed this meditation to help build the relationship with your intuition spoken through your gut brain, heart brain and cortical brain. This link will take you to my subscription site where you can purchase the course, access the 3 intelligences meditation for free, or browse through the other health support tools to see what inspires you. https://www.soulnurturing.com.au/member-homepage
