The number one requirement for healing

the number one requirement for healing

I have had so many discussions this month about this number one requirement for healing. It lights people up when I talk with them about it.  It brings their “aha” moment and gives a very deep sense of acceptance and understanding.  It also supports people to feel more empowered and assured in the body in the process of healing.  This healing factor is something that seems so simple and achievable, yet is not always as straightforward and attainable as you might think. This has a lot to do with the unconscious and with body memory, which is a huge component of what Kinesiology addresses through muscle monitoring.  Muscle monitoring is a feedback system which registers what causes stress to the body, and what supports and balances the body.  This includes conscious, unconscious and energetic factors, as the muscles respond to all these aspects.

So what is this number one factor needed for healing? It simply is to feel safe. When the body doesn’t feel safe, its physiology is geared to fighting a threat.  Whether that is a physical, mental, emotional or energetic threat, the physical response is the same.  This is why chronic stress is one of the main contributors to illness.

This is also baffling for people, because often when they find themselves in a ‘safe place’ in their life, and the chronic stress is over, they start to have a lot of physical pain and sense of injury in the body.  This is the body’s intelligence at work. It is no good to us to be aware of physical pain when we are in a threatening situation. We need to be fully geared for action without distraction. So the body compensates. Once that need for compensation is over, the truth of the damage becomes known to us.  When the body has the awareness of what is out of balance or in pain, it can mobilise resources to heal.

Part of the action for healing in the body is an inflammatory response. This is one of the cell danger responses for fighting infection, or any other threat. Commonly people’s bodies get stuck in this inflammatory phase - for a number of reasons. One of them is brain association - which is the association of fear and threat with an innocuous agent. This is something else which baffles people. Consciously they have moved on from the threat, yet unconsciously the neurology has not. It can require some skilled therapy to support the body out of these neurological patterns and that is where I come in with 26 years of Kinesiology training and experience.

There are also plenty of things you can do for yourself to support the sense of safety required for healing, which I will share with you now.

In the midst of writing the courses for my subscription site, I had 3 dreams in the one night, all with the same theme of trying to switch on the lights to help clients, friends and community.  The lights did not work and my efforts were fruitless. Before going to bed that night I had asked for guidance to be of the highest service to people in developing my courses. When I journaled my dreams and worked with a process which I offer to you in the Intuitive Intelligence Mastery course, I realised that one of the most important aspects that I needed to convey was the connection with source. It is not enough to just flick a switch in the physical realm. There needs to be a connection with the ultimate power source - the soul and Divine self.  It is this connection which gives a deep sense of being in the present.  When we look upon the present moment in this space of loving awareness, generally we are safe.  Most of our feelings of being unsafe arise from memories from the past and past associations.  They come from future projections of worries or imagined fears.  They can also arise from watching virtual material that is someone else’s projection of an unsafe situation.  The body does not discern between real, virtual or imagined.  It responds physically in the same way.

To feel safe in life, we also need to feel a connection with the earth.  Walking barefoot on the earth not only roots us in a sense of belonging, it supports the body’s circulation and electrical systems. Our body has an amazing ability to transform energy. It is doing it on a cellular basis every time we take in nutrients to power cellular function. There is an energy exchange between the body and the earth when we contact it through barefoot walking, breathing fresh air, swimming in the ocean etc. This is a very balancing and stabilising energy for our electrical systems, such as the nervous system and fascia. Other remarkable health benefits for barefoot walking include reduction of inflammation, boosting antioxidants in the body, improving sleep, and perhaps most importantly, promoting healthy blood flow.

These are my top 6 strategies to send safety signals to your body and calm the nervous system.  This will cultivate a sense of power in your everyday life and ability to heal.

#1 Safe home environment

Have you created a safe environment in your home for your body to do its rejuvenation?  Is it free from mould?  Is it clutter free and clean?  Are there items that cause you stress or irritation? Do you surround yourself with the things that make you feel good? Do you only welcome into your home those people you feel comfortable and safe with?

#2 Safe self talk

Negative self talk, and ruminating on angers and worries (fight and fear/flight) gives the nervous system signals that the body is not safe. This is one aspect of health that we have power over. Awareness to the thoughts and emotions that we choose to perpetuate gives us the power to make positive changes.  Are your thoughts and emotions towards yourself kind and loving?

#3 Conscious choice

We all have the power to choose our thoughts, stories, attitudes, beliefs, emotions and behaviours when we are aware. Busy thoughts and over thinking on problems and worries can be programming the nervous system into a stress mode. Give your nervous system and brain some restoration by rejecting unhelpful thoughts. The power of choice is the greatest power that we have to positively influence our life.  Avoid engaging in virtual material that is war based, angering or traumatising etc. Avoid entertainment that is designed for instilling horror or fear.  Be mindful of what you are choosing to say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to.

#4 Re-pattern with appreciation

Train your nervous system to calm by being present to the moment. Worries about the future or ruminating about the past can cause the nervous system to react in stress.  Instead, focus on what you have to appreciate. What is good and right in your life right now?

Appreciation practices also support heart coherence which allow the intrinsic nervous system of the heart to transform negative energy and send harmonising signals throughout the body. I have a heart coherence meditation included in many of my courses.  As a thank you for reading my blog, here is the video of it for you for free. https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/kv-pJNCZLD-QXaYMILIAq8tPYAiY6H-iKknG4UIlVDS0QNPojOWdh55hywottD1f.MihFnMYfA2RJU3_H?startTime=1726816411000

#5 Build inner trust

When we consistently dishonour the body’s needs or the soul’s wisdom we create an internal struggle and stress responses. Taking space and time each morning and frequently throughout the day gives you the chance to hear and act on your body’s needs and intuition. Then trust, power and confidence in yourself can be strengthened.

#6 Release toxins and pathogens

Toxic burden from the likes of pathogens (mould, bacteria, virus, parasites, yeasts), heavy metals, pesticides, cigarettes and everyday chemicals can put the body into a fight/flight/withdrawal/anxiety kind of stress response. It is the body’s way of alerting you to the fact that the internal environment is not safe and needs to be dealt with. Supporting detoxification and immune function to clear out these toxins can reduce huge amounts of stress affecting the body and brain functions. These are the most common toxins that I find affecting the people who I work with for healing.

Parasites: Parasites can overstimulate the sympathetic nervous system, leading to inflammation throughout the body.  They disrupt sleep which is a powerful body function for healing.  They can also cause constipation, which further increases toxicity.

Mould: Mould directly affects our body’s stress reaction pathways, creating an inflammatory response in the brain and other organs that can lead to chronic fatigue, anxiety, and depression. It has the energetic affect in the body much like it has in nature where it is associated with the sense of ‘lay down and die’.  So if you are feeling that deep sense of powerlessness and hopelessness then it is worth looking into mould or mycotoxin (the microscopic airborne component of mould) involvement.

Bacteria:  There is a unique bacterial component in the gut and in the brain - it is called the microbiome. Microbes support the health of the gut and nervous system by providing the optimal environment and symbiotic relationships with the body for health.  When there is a bacterial infection or overgrowth of bacteria that are not supportive, the nervous system of the brain and the gut can be dis-regulated and show signs of stress such as irritability, headaches, fatigue.

Candida: This is a yeast that is naturally occurring in the body yet when it is overgrown, it will cause stressful symptoms such as sugar cravings, irritability, fatigue, brain fog, physical discomfort and agitation.

Chemical Toxicity: Toxins such as pesticides, heavy metals, solvents, and other environmental pollutants can all contribute to fight or flight mode by increasing stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Heavy metals in particular can cause a range of unwanted neurological symptoms such as memory problems, concentration difficulties, restlessness, irritability, mood swings and a range of other cognitive challenges.  This can then contribute to those feelings of powerlessness and anxiety.

The first step to empowering your body in the face of toxicity is to make sure that you are always drinking filtered water. Be mindful of what you are putting on and in your body.  Air quality is also important to consider. Air filters can be useful, particularly if you live in the city. There are supplements that can help to bind to and detoxify the body, yet it is best to muscle test for these because different things will work for different people with different pathogens. Pathogens can be dormant or active at a low level in the body so if you are unsure, get in touch and I will be happy to work with you to discover what is keeping your body from healing.
