Patterns are everywhere in nature and in the nature of our being. We can be lovingly present when we see ourself truly, patterns and all.
When I embarked on a 10 week holiday overseas I was curious to know what I might learn and what transformations might occur for me in the process. As I reflect on this, I am firstly struck by the fact that about this time 12 or so years ago, I embarked on a 10 day vision quest. The interesting correlation is that I had planned for a 10 day quest and yet chose to finish it at 9 days. Correlating with this is the fact that our originally planned 10 week holiday ended up being 9 weeks. Michael and I decided to come home a week earlier for a number of reasons, yet the big picture learning here for me is that life unfolds through a series of choices and ‘right feel’ rather than from a mental schedule. It is also nice to remember I don’t have to have everything worked out from my head. My philosophy for life is that the heart knows, and shows the way. It is also worth highlighting this point: attuning to, and honouring the sense of ‘enough’, is of absolute paramount when it comes to making choices in life. There are a number of stories I could share about that, however they are not my stories to share.
I have to say that I have returned from this trip feeling holistically nourished. It has given me time to be so very present with myself while being present to my outer world, refreshed with so many new and unique experiences. Knowing that I will never see these places again made me very aware of being wholly present, and not let my mental processes detract from the magic of a moment, brimming full with sights, sounds, smells and other sensations. Feeling so present to ‘simply be’ has felt so very nourishing. I hope that I can continue to re-invigorate myself in this way moving forward in my everyday life.
The process of returning home to myself has been occurring while being away from home. I was more clearly seeing the patterns in my life. It is so clear to me that healing and guidance is eternally present, and the more we drop our stories and mental constructs, the more we are able to receive. This process has not only been happening in my waking life of literally and metaphysically experiencing the larger world, it has been happening through my dreams and the books I have chosen to read on my travels. I am in awe with this process of life … what we need to see and hear for our own truth and growth is reflected back, no matter where we are, or what we are doing. In my book ‘Melting Moments’ I refer to these moments as very loud moments that feel tattooed into our being. They can occur anywhere and feel like little aha’s. They light us up. They call us home. They imprint an important memory. And momentarily, they sort us out.
To demonstrate what I am trying to say here, London’s train system paints the picture beautifully. When travelling on the train in London, there is a repeated message that warns travellers to report any suspicious or harmful activities. They end with the punchy statement, ‘See it. Say it. Sorted’ I feel like this captured the inner work that I was doing for myself as I observed my internal responses and behaviours in certain challenging situations. As my husband and I debriefed about these experiences as well as shared our night’s dreams, we had the chance to do just that. See it. Say it. Sorted. It also ties a neat little bow around our human soulful and psychological processes of realising our true self, so that we can feel somewhat sorted and whole.
I am so very grateful to have my husband as the loving witness in my life, who supports me in this process. And I am so very grateful to be able to metaphorically hold the light and the microphone for others to experience the healing and wholeness that comes from seeing life patterns, naming the game and declaring the solutions and new ways of being. My reverence for life has grown, as has my gratitude and love for my beloved travel companion, my husband Michael.
As I write this on my 17 hour flight from London to Perth, my summary is:
Sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight service and entertainment. Translated to the body and soul travels: Be present with yourself and those around you, and know that everything is present for your growth, learning, and enjoyment of life.

In the meantime, here are the books that I enjoyed reading over the past couple of months, and why:
Just about Coping by Natalie Cawley - Written by a psychologist and telling the stories of herself and her clients was a raw and honest look into psychology and the human experience of living and learning. Compassion eliciting and fuel for my purpose as a Kinesiologist.
Holographic Blood by Harvey Biggelsen - a new science that demonstrates eloquently the process of revealing the body’s patterns of holding and the stuck emotions which play a massive part in creating physical illness and imbalances. Another proud moment to be a Kinesiologist, and especially seeing that a large part of my training was in holographic muscle monitoring, assessment and supports for the body.
The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk - An affirmation for the importance of working with the body to support trauma release and repatterning the body and brain into more functional ways of operating. Made me feel more purposeful with my Kinesiology, massage and yoga practices. Warning, there are some distressing stories of abuse covered in this book.
The Dreaming Way by Toko-Pa Turner - a beautifully nourishing and inspiring book for working in the mystical realms of bedtime dreams and the human psyche.
